The “ash” referred to is the alkaline residue that is mainly composed of the following: magnesium, iron, copper, calcium and zinc. The burning method on the other hand is referred to the food catabolism which produces waste.

Food may be categorized to the following types, acid, alkaline and neutral. Food categories are determined through the pH level that they have once diluted with water.

Alkaline diet promotes eating foods that are basically rich in alkaline like some fruits, vegetables, nuts, citrus fruits, legumes, and tubers and avoids one to eat grains, meat, dairy products, as well as too much sodium. This diet will affect the alkalinity of the blood that ranges between 7.35-7.45.

In other words, the diet aims to balance out the acid-base homeostasis that is in one’s blood, balancing the acidity to base known as pH level. Without such balance in one’s body, there may be adverse effects like some illnesses and diseases.

This number on the hand will tell one, either he or she is acidic or alkaline. The normal pH level of a body is 7.35 to 7.45 which is described as slightly alkaline. And this is the optimal environment that the one should maintain to avoid any disease or illness. Lower than 7.35 means acidity while more than 7.45 is alkaline.

When the body’s pH level is at risk of going below the range of 7.35 to 7.45, known as acidosis, it does some precautionary measure and gets minerals from the bone to prevent one from being acidic.

This is the reason for the occurrence of bone diseases like osteoporosis that slowly deteriorates the bones and some degenerative illness like tumors and the like.

Based from some health experts and professional medicine practitioners, over acidity is the main cause of some serious health problems and conditions that is suffered by most people around the world. This does not come as a surprise because majority of the foods that is included in most diets that people have are composed of acid based foods. Majority of the world’s population is accustomed to consuming foods that is delicious and tasty to the palate, and sadly, such practice may be more dangerous to one’s health. Foods that people usually cling to are those rich in sugar, starch, caffeine, protein, fat and others which some may be addicted to leading to one’s over acidity. Some foods that are included in the diet are also known to be good high in calcium which is beneficial for sources of calcium for the bones. These are only some of the benefits that one may get from following the alkaline diet.

Practicing the Alkaline Diet the Right Way

One also needs to know that to practice alkaline diet, it does not simply mean to eat foods that are rich in alkaline, you need to know the basics on how to start following the alkaline diet the right way so that your body will be effective in absorbing all the essential nutrients it needs. Over alkalinity on the other hand, may not be good because it may lead to alkalosis.
